Gabriel DiMartino

Gabriel DiMartino is an instructor of music at the Syracuse University Setnor School of Music. He has been playing trumpet since his father gave him one to put in his toy box on his third birthday. Now age 24, he has studied the trumpet nearly his entire life, taking lessons and attending masterclasses and conferences for over 18 years. Most recently, Gabriel has studied with John Hagstrom at DePaul University (where Gabriel received his undergraduate degree in music performance) and with Don Duncan at Wichita State University (M.M.). While at WSU, he also played in the faculty brass quintet and played second trumpet in the Wichita Symphony Orchestra.

Traveling the world, Gabriel has performed in 13 countries, giving recitals and playing in orchestras and bands. Most notably, he has played recitals at the Kurshalle in Bad Sakingen, Germany (as part of the Euro-ITG Conference), Cadet Chapel at West Point Military Academy (USA), and toured as a soloist and section cornetist with the Advocate Messenger Brass Band twice in Western Europe and once in Trinidad.

Gabriel can be heard on a variety of recordings, from the Vivaldi Concerto (with father Vince) with the Syracuse University Wind Ensemble (under the direction of John Laverty) to the horse-whinny on the collected works of Leroy Anderson played on the San Phillipo Wurlitzer Theatre Organ.

Currently, Gabriel DiMartino is a trumpet instructor at the Syracuse University Setnor School of Music.  There, he teaches private lessons, trumpet ensemble, and brass quintets, and runs a warm-up class, performance class, and excerpt class.
