Nick Bideler

Nicholas Bideler, born in June 1986, is a native of Fort Smith, Arkansas and has been in the music field since he was 8 years old.  In 2004 Nicholas was appointed as Principle Organist at Visitation Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri where he also started a Royal School of Church Music program.  He received his bachelor’s degree in organ performance from the University of Kansas in 2008 and master’s degree at the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2010.  His primary teachers have been Dr. James Higdon, Dr. Michael Bauer and Dr. Roberta Gary respectively. 

He is currently working on his doctorate of musical arts degree at the University of Kansas.  In 2007, Nicholas commissioned a piece for solo organ by Jean-Baptiste Robin, organist at the Cathedral of Poitiers, France and Professor of Organ at the Conservatory of Music of Versailles.  Nicholas won 1st place in the Strader International Organ Competition in March 2008.  

In 2008 he was appointed as the Associate Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati where he played for both the Cathedral Choir and Cathedral Choir of Boys and Girls.  In the fall of 2010, Nicholas returned to Visitation Church to direct the RSCM choir of boys and girls.  Nicholas was a competitor in the 2011 Dublin International Organ Competition and the 2011 Canadian International Organ Competition.  

Starting September of 2012, he will be the new Assistant Organist and Choirmaster at The Church of St. Michael and St. George in Saint Louis, Missouri where he will work closely with Robert Lehman and accompany the choirs of SMSG along with being the assistant director of the SMSG Girl's Choir. 

He has played for and participated in master classes with many well-known organists and pedagogs including James David Christie, Marie-Claire Alain, Susan Landale, Olivier Latry, Jean-Baptiste Robin, John Grew and Gerre Hancock.  Nicholas has performed throughout the United States and Europe in such venues as the Washington National Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral Indianapolis, Princeton University, Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Newark; St. Thomas Fifth Ave, NYC; and Westminster Cathedral, London.
